The SMI exists to serve the full spectrum of maritime organisations across the UK, and with it the industry as a whole.
Specifically, we look to give our individual members a renewed capacity to access market insight, raise their profiles, secure fruitful collaborations, and achieve new levels of success.  
The level of innovation within the UK’s maritime industry is, we believe, on a par with that of the aeronautical and automotive industries. It needs to be seen, celebrated and also expanded upon. SMI is here to underpin that progress and momentum.
Within the UK maritime sector, no-one else brings together such a rich diversity of intelligence, opportunities, initiatives and events.
By welcoming and showcasing members of all sizes, we help to create a new openness of connection between all corners of the industry - not just amongst UK organisations, but also with government and with overseas partners. 
By creating six ‘councils’ to champion individual industry sectors, we are able to distil the latest developments for those both within and outside each of those sectors.
